On April 21, 2025, Timor Port welcomed members of LAI-ARA Company for a visit of its port facilities. The purpose of this visit was to allow the company to assess the port’s logistical capabilities in preparation for future cargo handling operations.
During the visit, the LAI-ARA delegation — composed of three companies representatives and one local agency partner — had the opportunity to explore several key facilities, including shore cranes for cargo unloading, forklifts, customs inspection areas, dry warehouses equipped with racking systems, temperature-controlled storage facilities (+5°C to +20°C), as well as cold storage chambers maintained at ranges from (-15°C to 0°C) and (-30°C to -15°C).
“This plan includes the use of two cargo barges for Ship-to-Shore (STS) operations at the anchorage position in the Tibar sea area. Once unloaded at the port, the cargo will be moved to processing areas before being transported out of the port following customs clearance,” said Ramiro Dias Quintas, Operational at LAI-ARA.
Alongside the site tour, discussions were held on the logistics plan for the upcoming unloading operations.
This visit highlights the growing trust of regional and international logistics players in Timor Port’s modern infrastructure and operational excellence. The port remains committed to delivering high-quality logistics solutions, strengthening the supply chain, and contributing to Timor-Leste’s economic growth.
“Welcoming LAI-ARA and showcasing our facilities reflects that Timor Port is today a reliable logistics platform capable of meeting the demands of major supply chains. Our ambition is to support our partners in the seamless execution of their operations while upholding high standards of safety, efficiency, and performance in service of Timor-Leste’s economic development,” said Nelida ALVES, Chief Operation Officer of Timor Port.
