MEMBERS OF THE PARLIAMENT OF TIMOR-LESTE VISIT TIMOR PORT TO BETTER UNDERSTAND TERMINAL OPERATIONS

On Thursday, March 27, 2025, Timor Port and the customs administration had the honor of welcoming a delegation of members of the Parliament of Timor-Leste for a meeting aimed at gaining a better understanding of the terminal’s operations. This visit provided parliamentarians with the opportunity to learn more about the port’s strategic role, the import and export processes, and the performance recorded since the commissioning of this key infrastructure for the country.

During their visit, the members of Parliament engaged with the port teams and received precise data on cargo volumes handled, transit times, and the various stages of customs procedures. Timor Port shared key figures highlighting its impact on the national economy, including the number of containers handled since its opening, the growth of port traffic, and the number of jobs created. The efficiency of operations was also emphasized, with reduced container processing times contributing to the improvement of Timor-Leste’s trade exchanges.

“We are delighted to welcome the members of Parliament and present to them the key role that Timor Port plays in the economic development of Timor-Leste. This meeting allows us to strengthen dialogue with national institutions and explore avenues for improvement together to continue optimizing the country’s trade exchanges,” said Rafael RIBEIRO, Chairman of Timor Port.

For her part, the representative of the parliamentarians praised the efforts made by the port to modernize logistics and enhance the country’s integration into international trade networks. She also emphasized the role of Parliament in supporting this momentum through legislative actions adapted to the needs of the maritime and logistics sector.

This visit marks an important step in the collaboration between Timor Port and the country’s institutions. By strengthening dialogue and sharing essential information, Timor Port reaffirms its commitment to actively contributing to Timor-Leste’s economic development and providing world-class port services to support the growth of both national and international trade.
