TIMOR PORT AND INSTITUTO DA DEFESA NACIONAL: A PARTNERSHIP FOR SUCCESS

Timor Port thrilled to announce the successful completion of an enriching three-day internship program by students from the Instituto da Defesa Nacional, held from March 4th to 6th, 2025. This immersive program provided participants with invaluable exposure to key aspects of port operations, logistics, security, and environmental sustainability.

The internship was designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and hands-on industry experience. Under the guidance of seasoned professionals, students actively engaged in operational tasks, gaining a deeper understanding of maritime logistics, port management, and security protocols. Their eagerness to learn and apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings highlighted their strong potential as future leaders in these fields.

In addition to professional training, students had the opportunity to visit the sea turtle conservation area in Kaitehu and participate in a mangrove reforestation project in Tibar. These initiatives underscored the importance of environmental conservation, providing firsthand insight into sustainable practices and the protection of marine ecosystems. The experience reinforced the critical role of responsible environmental stewardship in the maritime and logistics industries.

The internship gives us a chance to see the real-world application of what we have studied in the classroom. It enhances our understanding and prepares us for the challenges ahead,” said Dr. Guilherme Soares, Interim Director of the Instituto da Defesa Nacional.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to these dedicated students and commend their commitment to professional and personal growth. We also express our gratitude to the Instituto da Defesa Nacional for this valuable collaboration and look forward to fostering more opportunities for experiential learning in the future.
